Job Description
This position is located in Golden Gate National Recreation Area, in the Division of Natural Resource Management and Science. The office for the position is located in Fort Cronkhite, Marin County. Concurrently, this position is also being announced under Delegated Examination. Job Requirements
All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-02/19/2020. To be eligible for this position, you must possess the Basic Education Requirements AND the Additional Qualification Requirements. BASIC QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENT: Successful completion of at least a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in biology or a related field of science underlying ecology that included at least 30 semester/45 quarter hours in basic and applied biological sciences. These hours must have included at least 9 semester/14 quarter hours in ecology and 12 semester/18 quarter hours in physical and mathematical sciences. You must include transcripts. ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: In addition to meeting the Basic Qualification Requirement shown above, to qualify for this position at the grade GS-12, you must possess one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service (obtained either in the private or public sectors) performing the following: (1) developing and ecological restoration projects related to vegetation; (2) identifying program and project priorities based on ecological knowledge and best available science; (3) developing work plans and supervising staff to meet organizational goals; (4) managing program and project budgets; and (5) conducting long-term monitoring of vegetation communities and or plant species. TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-11 is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level. (Must submit your SF-50 that shows Time-in-Grade eligibility and reflects your title, series, and grade. No award SF-50 will be accepted). Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect either full-time or 40 hours per week. If a part-time work schedule is reflected, the hours must be annotated to ensure proper crediting of specialized experience. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
